About
The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra returns to WMC with its Artist in Residence, horn player extraordinaire Felix Klieser, performing Mozart's famous Fourth Horn Concerto – a winsome gallop through the Austrian countryside – in a performance not to be missed. This popular party piece for French horn follows Dvorák's Czech Suite, a mix of traditional Czech dances and lyrical folk melodies, inspired by his beloved Bohemian countryside. The evening ends with Mendelssohn's much-loved Scottish Symphony; a musical tribute to a Highland walking holiday in 1829. Its haunting recurring theme came to the young composer as he explored the ruined chapel at Holyrood Palace. Dedicated to Queen Victoria and inspired by Scotland's atmospheric scenery, Mendelssohn's stirring symphony is filled with dramatic energy and entrancing melodies.
