Where can I go horse riding in Wiltshire?
If you have access to your own horse then we would suggest taking a look at the local Ordnance Survey maps for the county where you can find detailed routes along our bridleways. You can enjoy sections of the Ridgeway National Trail as it passes into the county, bridleways near to Stonehenge and in the World Heritage Site, exploring the New Forest National Park and routes through some of our quiet and beautiful villages.
If you prefer to be guided then book onto a hack with Rein and Shine. This riding centre also offers horse riding lessons from beginner through to advanced level and run events during the school holidays for children.
Guests staying at the luxurious, 5 star Lucknam Park Hotel, in the Wiltshire Cotswolds can enjoy riding one of the hotel’s 35 horses. Lessons are available and for the more advanced rider, why not enjoy an accompanied hack around the 500 acre estate. There is even a cross-country course where you can practice your jumps.

Are there many equestrian events in Wiltshire?
Wiltshire is home to the Barbury International Horse Trials (usually taking place in early July) and is a short distance from Badminton Horse Trials both of which attract internationally renowned riders.
Look out for point-to-points at Larkhill, polo in Tidworth or Druid’s Lodge or one-day events.
Horse racing enthusiasts will also enjoy the thrill of Salisbury Racecourse, offering several race meetings throughout the summer months.
