Green Games at Westonbirt Family Summer Trial
5 June – 4 September
Make the most of the last few days of the summer holidays by heading just outside the Wiltshire borders to Westonbirt for their Family Summer Trail. As you explore Silk Wood and the Old Arboretum, look out for various games that invite you to challenge together using your imagination and memory!
Heritage Open Day in Wiltshire
Taking place every September is National Heritage Week. From 6th – 15th September this year, volunteers across Wiltshire organise events to celebrate the county’s fantastic history and culture. Make the most of this event by stepping back in time, inside some of Wiltshire’s most historical properties, destinations and landmarks.
Mompesson House
Enjoy free entry to Mompesson House and Garden from 11am to 4pm on the 8th – 10th September. You will be shown inside the doors and drawers of some of the incredible collection items throughout the house, with access to the garden, second-hand bookshop and tearoom all accessible with this free entry.
Icons of the Sky at Longleat
13 – 15 September
Icons of the Sky is taking flight this month at Longleat! This all-new festival sees 3 days of breath-taking flying displays and balloon launches. Highlights include flyovers from legendary Spitfire and Tiger Moths, aerobatics, wing walkers and much more! As day turns to night, be sure to stay as 2 Grob aircraft set the sky alight with stunning pyrotechnics followed by a firework finale.
Swindon Railway Festival
14 – 15 September
The Swindon Railway Festival returns to STEAM Museum this month with over 20 of the UK’s finest model railway layouts being displayed alongside iconic Swindon-built locomotives. Explore special exhibitions, trade stands and modelling demos!
DOCA: Confetti Battle & Colour Rush
14 September
Hosted by Devizes International Street Festival is this month’s Confetti Battle & Colour Rush! Taking place on Saturday 14th, this event combines vibrant colour displays with all-round fun on the Devizes streets. Whether you decide to take part or support from the side, experience a colourful show in the 5km mixed terrain fun run, before enjoying an incredible explosion of confetti at the finish line.
Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Wiltshire Music Centre
20 September
Head to Wiltshire Music Centre this month for a fantastic performance from Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. Leading British pianist Danny Driver joins the Orchestra for Mozart’s sparkling piano concerto No 21, along with other classical pieces.
Pewsey Carnival Illuminated Procession
21 September
The annual Pewsey Carnival Illuminated Procession arrives this month! As Wiltshire’s oldest carnival starting in 1898, there will be plenty to look forward to including races, competitions and other fun events, all raising money towards local charities. The illuminated procession is one to look forward to, so make sure to arrive early, grab some food and get a good spot to see the whole performance!
Marlborough Lit Fest
26 – 29 September
Marlborough LitFest returns for its 15th year with more than 40 events taking place over the weekend! With a mix of fiction, non-fiction, poetry and children’s authors, as well as workshops and the annual Big Town Read, there is plenty to look forward to.
Taste Salisbury
26 - 29 September
Taste Salisbury returns for its 4th year this month! Experience a host of jam-packed foodie events including workshops, talks and family-fun trails throughout the weekend, celebrating the amazing food and drink scene this Medieval City has to offer.
