Endless summer adventures with the National Trust in Wiltshire
Get ready for a summer full of fun with activities to cater for everyone as part of our Summer of Play, sponsored by Starling Bank.
At Lacock and Stourhead you’ll find impressive new summer play areas, both packed with games, a new craft every week and workshops. Lacock has a hay-bale stage, rock-climbing wall (29 July – 2 August), nature play area and sensory play tent for younger children.
At Stourhead you can build a giant marble run, climb obstacles, explore a maze and discover a straw-bale fort.
Meanwhile Avebury will have a nature-based obstacle course in the Old Farmyard, and Mompesson lawn games in the walled garden.
Imber Bus Day
Have you visited the abandoned village of Imber? Evacuated in 1943, Imber has remained deserted to this day. This month, a vintage bus service transports passengers back in time from Warminster to the historic village of Imber. Here, you will be able to explore its iconic streets!
Edington Music Festival
Celebrating the extraordinary work of the 12th Century Benedictine Abbess, Sain, mystic, poet and composer Hildegard of Bingen, Edington Music Festival marks the 845th anniversary of her death with performances of one or two of her compositions, along with church music across the centuries.
Stourhead Estate Walks
Be led on lesser-known routes around Stourhead’s wider estate this month! Taking place on August 30th, the tour will focus on Alfred’s Tower.
