Castle Combe

Bowood House and Gardens
Bowood House and Gardens is the home of Marquis and Marchioness of Lansdowne. Here you can discover the rich and fascinating history of Bowood House and the family. Set within 100 acres of beautifully landscaped ‘Capability’ Brown Parkland, don’t forget to wonder the grounds and explore a range of colourful plants, flowers and shrubbery. From rich reds and golds in the Autumn, to vibrant purples and pinks in the Spring.
Stonehenge and Avebury World Heritage Site
The Stonehenge and Avebury UNESCO World Heritage Site has been capturing visitors’ imagination for decades. Not only can you experience an inner circle experience at Stonehenge, but you can get up close to Avebury any time of the year! As the world’s largest Stone Circle, Avebury makes for the perfect walk any time of year.
Kennet and Avon Canal
Originally created during the Industrial Revolution as a way of linking Bristol to Reading, the Kennet and Avon Canal now remains a thriving place for walkers, cyclists, boaters and wildlife. In Wiltshire, you can find some of the most picturesque spots along the water, perfect for a picnic or just to take it all in!
Caen Hill Locks
Located within the historic market town of Devizes is Caen Hill Locks, one of the most famous landmarks along the canal. Stretching over 2-miles, this triumph of Georgian engineering features 29 locks and is a truly picturesque sight!
Cherhill White Horse
Located just outside of Calne is Cherhill White Horse, one of Wiltshire iconic White Horses carved into the hillsides across the county. This is the second oldest and can be seen right next to the Lansdowne monument, making it a pretty picturesque walking route!
Wilton Windmill
Set upon the hills of North Wessex Downs National Landscape, Wilton Windmill is the only working windmill in Wessex and still produces wholemeal and stone-ground flour! It is also a Grade II Listed Building of Special Architectural and Historic Interest and is the perfect location for a picnic this season.
King Alfred’s Tower, Stourhead
Open from March until late October is King Alfred’s Tower, Wiltshire’s real life Rapunzel Tower. This unique looking, 160ft tall red-brick folly is set in National Trust’s Stourhead estate. Climb the 205 steps of the tower to the very top and be rewarded with picturesque views over Wiltshire, Dorset and Somerset.
Martinsell Hill, Vale of Pewsey
Located in the Vale of Pewsey, in North Wessex Downs National Landscape is Martinsell Hill. Climb to the top for panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. This location is one of the best places to visit for those iconic sunset shots.
Shearwater Lake, Longleat
Within the Longleat estate you will find Shearwater Lake, the perfect destination for a leisurely stroll with family and furry friends. Not forgetting it offers expansive views of the wider estate as it reflects on the stunning waters.
