Tell us a bit about yourself and your role
I offer wonderful private day tours from Bath to the very best that Wiltshire has to offer and beyond.
This is sightseeing in maximum comfort and without the hassle - my clients get to sit back in my luxury Mercedes as I take care of both the driving and the guiding.
We can take a tour of the Cotswolds from Bath and see beautiful towns and villages like Lacock, Castle Combe, Corsham and Bradford-on-Avon. Alternatively, let's explore the world's biggest Stone Age landscape on a Bath tour to Stonehenge and Avebury.
I only offer private tours so the day goes entirely at your pace, stopping wherever you like for photos, and we always enjoy good pub lunch along the way.
What do you like best about your role?
I get to show off my favourite places to visitors from all over the world. I also really do enjoy meeting people and having a laugh together - this makes every day different. Driving through such beautiful countryside and walking around awe-inspiring sites like Salisbury Cathedral also beats sitting behind a computer all day!
Where are your favourite places to visit in Wiltshire and why?
Iford Manor Gardens, just outside Bath, stole my heart on my very first visit and I always love returning at any time of year. It really feels like a secret garden and a place that few privileged people know about. We visit Iford on the 'Beyond Bath' itinerary, which is my favourite Cotswolds tour from Bath.
There's also something special and somehow spiritual about standing on top of Old Sarum and surveying the Salisbury Plains in every direction. Again, relatively few tourists come here here, so you can have this incredibly atmospheric and historic place to yourself. I try and sneak Old Sarum in at the end of my tour to Stonehenge and Salisbury.
Do you have any hidden Wiltshire gems that you’d like to share with our readers?
Apart from the above, I recommend that everyone takes time to enjoy a walk around Cathedral Close in Salisbury. It's easy to make a beeline straight for the Cathedral itself and completely miss the enormously beautiful precinct that surrounds it. You will see some of England's most beautiful and valuable real estate, which was originally built to house the clergy.
If you go to visit the stately home of Bowood House (itself a real gem) you should definitely drive through the entirely thatched village of Sandy Lane nearby. It's picture perfect! This cute place was built in the 18th century to house workers on the Bowood estate, who were forcibly evicted from their existing homes when they were flooded to create the big lake in the grounds.
Where’s your favourite Wiltshire picnic spot?
I'll go with the peaceful and secluded banks of the River Avon that passes right next to Lacock Abbey. If it's hot enough then it's also a great spot for wild swimming.
Where are your favourite places to eat out in Wiltshire and why?
The Methuan Arms is a fab old coaching inn in Corsham, with a cosy but modern decor and handy parking out the back. You can work up an appetite or walk it off in the adjacent Corsham Court estate.
Timbrell's Yard in Bradford-on-Avon is right on the banks of the Avon and always has a good buzz. Inside is flooded with light and there's a terrace for a sunny day. Here too, you can enjoy a pre or post lunch stroll along the river.
