Spring is very much in action here in Wiltshire, May makes a perfect time to come and visit our beautiful county, with the Early May Bank Holiday weekend this weekend and the May half term starting on 27 May. If you need an excuse for why you should add Wiltshire to your plans, here are some of our top things to do during May…
Discover our spring flowers
From bluebell carpeted glades through to woodland walks. May is a great time to see spring flowers in their glory. Bowood’s Woodland Gardens will be open throughout May offering you a colourful display of rhododendrons, azaleas and native bluebells. Take a woodland walk through West Woods, near Marlborough or check out some of our other top bluebell spots for those Insta-worthy photos.
The Peto Gardens at Iford Manor will also be looking fine during May and there’ll be a keen eye on the wisteria beginning to bud on the manor house itself. On 13 and 27 May, you can also book onto an Evening Garden Champagne Tour with Iford Manor’s owner.
Continuing with the floral theme, Salisbury Cathedral will be seeing the return of their ever-popular flower festival. Titled ‘Celebration: A Festival of Flowers’ see the building be transformed by floral displays. Running 10-15 May, pre-booking is strongly advised.
Find out more about Wiltshire’s traditions
Salisbury Museum will be holding a Spring Fayre on 2 May bringing together all the traditions, festivities and fun that Wiltshire has been associated with at this time of year. Expect dancing, music, crafts, games and much more in this family-friendly event.
