Live Music
Knock your winter blues on the head with an uplifting musical performance this February. Wiltshire Music Centre in Bradford on Avon have an extremely busy programme planned for February, featuring the likes of the Georgia Lewis Trio, who explore folk tales old and new on on Sunday 9 February. Later in the month, pianist Benjamin Grosvenor gives his debut recital at the centre on Friday 21 February, and on Friday 28 February you can tune into the glamourous world of the roaring 1920s with Alex Mendham and His Orchestra alongside the Dunlop Sisters. Elsewhere in Wiltshire, the Cosy Club in Salisbury kick off a programme of monthly free live music nights with an appearance by the Loose Connections on Friday 28 Febraruy.
Food and Drink
February in Wiltshire is shaping up to be a foodie's delight! Get stuck in to a hands-on cookery class with a Seafood Asian Style Cookery Class at Vaughan's Cookery School on Saturday 8 February. Or for something very different, book your place on a Murder Mystery Night at Bowood Hotel on Friday 28 February and put your detective skills to the test over a delicious three-course dinner. Finally, February draws to a close with the Devizes Festival of Winter Ales 2020; a celebration of warming ales and ciders from some of the best independent breweries in the country.
Theatre and Performance
From Thursday 6 to Saturday 22 February, you can catch Blood Wedding at Salisbury Playhouse; local playwright Barney Norris has reimagined Lorca’s play Blood Wedding and set his version in present-day Wiltshire in the village of Edington. Meanwhile, comedian Jessica Fostekew (familiar from BBC sitcoms Motherland and Cuckoo) brings her show Hench to the Pound Arts Centre on Thursday 13 February. Or on Saturday 29 February, catch the classic satire of cunning and greed Volpone by Ben Johnson performed by Tangle Theatre at the Pound Arts Centre.
From Tuesday 18 to Saturday 22 February, Sarum Lights - a light and sound spectacular will see beautiful Salisbury Cathedral lit up inside and outside with a family friendly, fully immersive display of soundscapes and light projections. Part of the Salisbury2020 celebrations to mark 800 years since the foundation of the city, Sarum Lights tells the story of Salisbury Cathedral and the rich history of the people who have cared for it over the past 800 years.
Valentines Day
