October is here, there's an Autumnal chill in the air and the spooky joy of Halloween is just around the corner. So, what's on this Halloween? Whether you're looking for a sophisticated (yet scary) Halloween night out, or some fun alternatives to trick or treating for your little ones, there are plenty of Halloween options to choose from across Wiltshire this year.
Pick up a Pumpkin
Nothing says Halloween like a colourful pumpkin - whether you carve it into a scary face or make it into a warming Autumn soup. Its Pumpkin Week at Roves Farm near Swindon from 22 October to 30 October. Choose a pumpkin, get carving and leave the mess behind at the farm... The Roves Farm pumpkin carving will take place alongside all the usual daily farm activities, so there will be plenty to do during your Halloween visit. Alternatively, you can handpick your perfect pumpkin this Halloween at Pumpkin Picking Patch near Fordingbridge, just over the border in Hampshire (and an easy drive from Salisbury). Pumpkin Picking Patch has thousands of pumpkins to choose from, as well as lots of family-friendly Halloween activities and crafts for kids to take part in. And there's even more pumpkin fun to be had at the Halloween Half Term Spooktacular at Cholderton Charlie's Rare Breeds Farm. Expect pumpkin picking, fancy dress parades and a special Kids Halloween Party on Saturday 26 October.
Have a Grown Up Halloween
Does Halloween have to be all about family activities and trick-or-treating? Of course not! The beautiful Bowood Estate near Calne will be hosting one of Wiltshire's most exclusive Halloween parties this year. The Halloween Ball at Bowood Hotel is the perfect option for a grown-up Halloween night out. Dress up in your most terrifying finery for a night of great music and delicious food and drink with plenty of spooky twists.

With ancient standing stones, ruined castles and thousands of years of history, Wiltshire has plenty of spooky spots to explore this Halloween. Walk amongst the standing stones at Avebury on a misty Autumnal day, or explore some of our beautiful woodlands at dusk - if you dare. Need some inspiration? For an extremely atmospheric Halloween setting, head just over the border to Cheddar Gorge and Caves where you can enjoy some spooky storytelling.
