Mompesson House family trail

Whether you live locally or are here for a long weekend, there’s plenty to keep you all entertained over the Bank Holiday weekend here in Salisbury and south Wiltshire.
These are some of the highlights you can enjoy:

Pop along to Mompesson House

Have a go at some of the activities Jinny Townsend enjoyed doing when she lived at Mompesson House in the family trail. Entry is free to National Trust members. Not travelling with children? There’s the 2019 ‘Standing by my darling's side: A Victorian experience of life, love and loss’ exhibition being held within the House giving a fascinating insight into former resident, Jinny Townsend.

Book onto a Summer Saturday Guided Walk

Throughout the summer, Salisbury City Guides are running various themed guided walks of the city. On the Saturday on the Bank Holiday weekend, they will be running a special tour of Salisbury Cathedral Close. This walk starts from St Ann’s Gate and tickets are available in advance from Salisbury Information Centre, Fish Row.

Take to the skies

Ever wanted to see our countryside from the air? Or perhaps you are looking for a unique gift idea for someone special? Aerosaurus Balloons offer champagne hot air balloon flights taking off from The Larmer Tree Gardens, south of Salisbury. Don’t forget your camera!

Pull out all the stops at Salisbury Cathedral!

From January to December 2019, Salisbury Cathedral will have an interactive exhibition called 'Pulling Out The Stops'. It follows the fascinating story of the Cathedral's famous Father Willis Organ, from its original construction in 1877 to the present day, including the extensive restoration work being carried out on it throughout 2019. Why not combine a visit to it with a chance to see the ‘Beyond’ exhibition by Diane Maclean?
