School is nearly out for summer and what better way to enjoy it than joining in with some of the family-friendly events and activities that are taking place in the local area.
Here are some of our highlights:
1. Salisbury Play and Fun Days
Salisbury City Council will be organising three play days in different areas across the city over the school holidays. Starting with the Harnham Fun Day (26 July), then the Bishopdown Fun Day (1 August), the Salisbury Playday in Churchill Gardens (7 August) and the Bemerton Heath Fun on the Green Day (22 August). Each of these events is free to attend as well, bonus!
2. Join in with The Salisbury Museum’s discovery days
For some family fun over the holidays come along to one of the museum’s discovery days. The first one takes place on 30 July which is entitled ‘The Museum of You’. Others include Harvest Corn Dollies (6 August), Climb the Monolith (13 August), Selfies and Sitters (20 August) and Archaeology Animation (27 August).
3. The Wessex Country Fair
Set to return to the Wilton Estate on 4 August, the Wessex Country Fair is a full day’s fun with arena displays, a fun dog show plus vintage and super cars. Plus, it’s in aid of local charity, Salisbury Hospice.
4. Ghost walk
Aimed for older children (and adults of course), why not join Salisbury City Guides for one of their regular Friday night ghost walks of the city centre? Starting at 8pm from outside Salisbury Information Centre, this is a fascinating tour of the ghosts and ghouls that haunt our city. Tickets can be booked in advance from Salisbury Information Centre or from the guide on the evening.
5. Picnic in the Park
Bring a picnic and pop along to Salisbury City Council’s annual Picnic in the Park event at Victoria Park on 28 August. Not only can you picnic in pretty surroundings but there will be fairground rides to enjoy too.
6. Celebrate World Ranger Day at Dinton Park
Dinton Park, approximately 10 miles west of Salisbury, will be staging events for World Ranger Day on 31 July. Children will have great fun undertaking tasks and activities to get their Ranger's Passport, such as whizzing down a zip wire, cooking on a campfire, building dens, making homes for wildlife and more. Be sure to get in early for this event as booking is essential.
This is a selection of the events that will be taking place these school holidays. Keep an eye on our events listings for more family-friendly events and activities taking place. We hope you enjoy your adventures and we’d love to see your pictures, just tag #VisitSalisbury on social media.
I also appreciate the inclusion of the link to the "5 Best Online Therapy Platforms": https://www.covingtonreporter.com/blog/5-best-online-therapy-platforms-2022/ post. It's essential to take care of our mental health while planning and enjoying vacations, and having access to online therapy platforms can be a great resource, especially during times when we might need extra support.
Thank you for sharing such a wonderful article and providing additional resources to ensure a well-rounded experience for your readers. Looking forward to exploring Salisbury's offerings and prioritizing my mental well-being through the suggested online therapy platforms. Cheers! 🌞🚀
