In Salisbury

Queen Elizabeth Gardens

As July soon approaches, we take a look at some of the fantastic events that are due to take place in and around Salisbury. Why not pop along to some of them and experience our city in a whole new way?

Celebrate the opening of the new Gin bar at The Stones Hotel

As part of the celebrations for the opening of the new Gin bar at The Stones Hotel, the hotel will be running a few Gin, Jazz and Tapas events over the coming months, one being on Friday 5 July. Watch cocktail demonstrations, listen to music from Dinner Jazz Sax and sip on some tasty drinks. Booking essential.

Check out some free live music

Salisbury City Council will once again be hosting its popular Music in the Park events in Queen Elizabeth Gardens this summer. Bring a picnic blanket along and relax on the lawn as you listen to musicians play. July dates are Sunday 7 and Sunday 21. (Please note, if the weather is adverse then the event will be cancelled, look out for posts on social media by Salisbury City Council).

Festival of Archaeology

Join in with the Festival of Archaeology

One of The Salisbury Museum’s flagship events, the Festival of Archaeology brings with it a weekend of discovery, entertainment and fascination. Aimed at families and history buffs, this event includes talks, hands-on activities, and information on some of the latest archaeological discoveries. This event runs the weekend of 13-14 July.

Discover a part of south Wiltshire that you might not be familiar with

Ever been to The Devenish nature reserve, near Durnford? If you haven’t explored this site you’re yourself then why not book onto a guided walk with Wiltshire Wildlife Trust? Dogs on leads are welcome and participants should be able to walk up steep steps - believe us though, the view from the top over the Woodford Valley is well worth it.

Street Food Sunday

Street Food vendors from across the south west will be heading to Salisbury Market Place on Sunday 28 July for the popular Street Food Sunday event. A great opportunity to indulge in a spot of alfresco dining, the difficulty will be deciding which stall to eat from!

Enjoy some outdoor theatre in the grounds of The Wardrobe

It’s not every day that you get to sit in the grounds of a historic house and military museum to watch some theatre, so why not book on to see one of the performances taking place at The Wardrobe military museum in July? The ‘Shakespeare in the Sun’ events are Much Ado About Nothing on 30 July and Romeo and Juliet on 31 July.
