With Father’s Day just around the corner, we’ve put together some dad-friendly things you can do here in Wiltshire:
1. Set your dad a challenge at one of our escape rooms
Was your dad a big fan of the Crystal Maze back in his day? This is his chance to show off his logic and problem-solving skills on a visit to one of our escape rooms. There are three escape rooms to choose from: Salisbury Escape Room, Live Escape Salisbury and the 11th Hour Escape Rooms at Bromham. Do you think he has what it takes to help you get out within 60 minutes?
2. Practice your swing at Sleight Valley Golf Driving Range
If your dad is a keen golfer then why not help him improve his swing at Sleight Valley Golf Driving Range, near Devizes? The range is family-friendly and the on-site café serving drinks and much needed cake will be a nice treat after some fun here.
3. Cook up a storm for him at The Farm Cookery School
Why not learn how to improve (or start) your cookery skills with a workshop at The Farm Cookery School, near Chippenham. A variety of courses are on offer from beginners through to more advance and including a range of culinary delights.
4. Go to war at Virtual Warfare
Battle it out at Virtual Warfare, south of Salisbury. Imagine a PlayStation or Xbox-type military warfare game where you are immersed in the action. This indoor attraction sits alongside Wessex Raceway if you fancy a bit of karting afterwards!
5. Meet the animals at Roves Farm
Bottle feed cute lambs, meet the rabbits and have fun exploring the grounds of Roves Farm, near Swindon. This Father’s Day dads also get free entry so long as they are accompanied by a paying child and there’s a Father’s Day bug hunt planned as well!
6. Have a go at flying birds of prey in the New Forest
Whether your dad is a keen ornithologist or perhaps an amateur photographer with a passion for nature photography, Forest Falconry in Landford offers various birds of prey experiences giving dad an opportunity to get up close and personal to these magnificent birds.
7. Get his taste buds working on a trip to Ramsbury
For gin, vodka or beer loving dads, a trip to Ramsbury Brewery is a must. See how this estate is managed and buy the produce in the on-site shop following a brewery tour. You can easily combine a trip to the brewery with a meal (or even overnight stay) at nearby The Bell at Ramsbury, an award-winning village inn with pub garden, café and boutique bedrooms.
8. Cruise along the canal from Devizes Marina Village
Why not take a scenic cruise along the Kennet & Avon Canal with either day boat hire of the Jack Sparrow or one of Devizes Marina Village’s Canadian canoes. Follow up your busy day’s adventures by some scrummy cake in the Marina Café.
9. Explore the wild landscapes of Salisbury Plain
Ever wondered what lies on Salisbury Plain? Take a tour with Salisbury Plain Safaris in one of their 4 x 4 tours. A range of interests can be catered for including military, wildlife or simply off-roading tours.
10. Take part in a family boules tournament
Family-friendly Woolley Grange Hotel, near Bradford on Avon will not only be offering a special Father’s Day lunch but also a fun family boules competition, where every dad wins a prize! The hotel’s grounds are great for exploring and see if you can spot the Westbury White Horse in the distance.
