If you have a toddler in tow and are not sure where to go or what to do then let us give you some fun ideas to help you spend your time here in Wiltshire.
1. Roves Farm
This family-fun farm, near to Swindon makes a great day out for little ones. Not only are there opportunities to meet and handle some of the animals on the farm but there’s also an activity barn great for letting off steam and tractor and trailer rides. Look out for special events taking place throughout the season including crafty fun.
2. Cholderton Charlie’s Farm
Continuing with the animals theme, Cholderton Charlie’s is located just off the A303 and makes a handy day out from Salisbury or Amesbury. Not only do you get the chance to meet some of the farm’s animals but you can also place your bets on the daily pig races (takes place during peak times). There’s an indoor play barn, sandpits and tree-top trail and an on-site café too.
3. Bowood House and Gardens
You may not immediately think of a house and gardens as a destination for a toddler however Bowood’s parkland offers ample lawn areas where children of all ages can race around and let off some steam!
4. The Salisbury Museum
Look out for the regular under 5s Fridays which take place at The Salisbury Museum. The events are aimed at 2-5 year olds and feature themed arty fun. Babies are also welcome.
5. Studley Grange Butterfly World and Craft Village
Just off the M4, near Swindon, spot a variety of butterflies, meet the meerkats and have fun in the central soft play area. There’s an extended farm yard area on the site complete with geese, sheep and pigs.
6. Swindon & Cricklade Railway
Any child with a passion for trains will love a trip to the Swindon & Cricklade Railway. Both steam and diesel hauled trains are used in this volunteer-led attraction. Look out for events aimed at families as well which include kids go free weekends (on various weekends in the year) and the Easter egg-spress.
7. Rowdey Cow Farm Café and Ice Cream Parlour
On a warm day is there anything better than an ice cream? Rowdey Cow, near Devizes offers a wide range of homemade ice cream with changing flavours. There’s a small children’s play area outside and the opportunity to view some of the farm’s animals.
8. STEAM – Museum of the Great Western Railway
Another great attraction to visit for keen railway enthusiasts! A visit to STEAM – Museum of the Great Western Railway allows you to get up close to steam locomotives and visit a reconstructed railway station. There are various interactive areas around the museum aimed at the younger visitors, plus under 3s go free.
