In addition to the Easter holidays and lots of Easter-related events, there’s plenty more to keep you entertained on a visit to Wiltshire this April. Here we’ve selected ten things to see and do but don’t forget to check out the rest of our website for other ideas too!
1. See an exhibition of contemporary printmaking at Fisherton Mill
This new exhibition at Fisherton Mill will showcase new work following the gallery’s successful Impress exhibition in 2016. Admission is free.
2. Hear a variety of choirs perform in Calne’s Spring Sing
Calne’s annual Spring Sing will take place on 8 April in the town centre. Enjoy a variety of choirs performing including the Warminster Military Wives Choir. There’s also audience participation in the ‘Big Sing’ finale.
3. Explore Salisbury Cathedral’s Library on a tour
The historic library in Salisbury Cathedral will be opening its doors for a tour on 12 April. Take the opportunity to see some of the collection including books dating as far back as the 9th century. The tour is followed by a cream tea in the Refectory.
4. Discover the ‘lost’ village of Imber
Access will be granted to Imber village, in the heart of Salisbury Plain, over the Easter weekend. St Giles’ Church will be opening its doors to the general public from Good Friday to Easter Monday, giving an opportunity to learn more about the village’s unique history.
5. Sample some of the delights of the Cranborne Chase
The Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty will be showcasing local food at their Taste the Chase event on 20 April in Dinton.
6. Enjoy an evening of comedy in Chippenham
Comedy club Jongleurs will be taking to the road and heading to The Neeld in Chippenham on 28 April. So why not enjoy an evening of laughs in this Purple Flag town!
7. Get your skates on in Melksham
Get your skates on and head down to Melksham’s Assembly Hall for a UV Glow-themed Roller Disco. Sessions will be running on 28 and 29 April.
8. Book onto a guided walk of Old Sarum and the Woodford Valley
Downland Walking will be running a ten mile circular walk taking in Old Sarum, the Woodford Valley and a section of the Monarch's Way on 29 April. Don your walking boots and explore a spring wander through some beautiful countryside.
9. Downton Cuckoo Fair
The village of Downton will come to life on 29 April as the Downton Cuckoo Fair arrives. With over 250 craft stalls, maypole dancing, music and activities, this event is great for all the family, plus entry is free!
10. Catch the start of the racing season at Salisbury Racecourse
Salisbury Racecourse will begin its 2017 season on 30 April. Place your bets on the horses and soak up the atmosphere at this popular sporting event.
