Once the mayhem of Christmas and New Year’s Eve passes, it’s sometimes hard to think of ideas for what to do during the colder time of year. We’ve put together this handy guide for you giving you ten reasons to visit Wiltshire in January 2017.
1. Kick start your New Year’s resolution with some fresh air at Stourhead
Join the National Trust for a guided walk through the garden, woods and parkland of Stourhead on New Year’s Day, a perfect antidote to the excesses of Christmas.
2. Meet some of the new arrivals at Roves Farm
Warning! Cute alert! Head to Roves Farm, near Swindon from 7 January for lambing time. The farm is expecting to have over 100 lambs born in January alone.
3. Hear from the renowned gardening writer, Monty Don
Monty will be heading to Salisbury Playhouse on 20 January to talk about his life, filming work and his travels across the world.
4. Hit the sales at Swindon Designer Outlet

5. Join a MasterChef finalist on a cookery course
Vaughan’s Cookery School in Devizes will be hosting 2016 MasterChef finalist, Juanita as she demonstrates her cooking skills in this class.
6. Checkout the new art exhibition in The Salisbury Museum
From 14 January onwards, The Salisbury Museum will be holding an exhibition of the artist and printmaker, Rena Gardiner. Rena is best remembered for her guidebooks to historic places and buildings and several of her works included Salisbury Cathedral. The exhibition runs until 13 May 2017.
7. Learn about the Harnham Water Meadows
Take a guided walk on 28 January and see the traditional watering of the Harnham Water Meadows in Salisbury. Experts will be on hand to not only lead the walk but to describe what’s happening.
8. Hone your Instagram skills on a trip to Corsham
