I had the pleasure of attending the press launch of the new ‘Reflection’ exhibition at Salisbury Cathedral this morning. The exhibition features pieces specially made by nine artists and officially opens on Monday 1 August and will run until 6 November 2016.
The exhibition features thirteen pieces located around the Cathedral including the Cloisters, the West Lawn, the Nave and over the font.
Artists featuring in the exhibition come from as far and wide as New Zealand and all use glass. Here are a selection of photographs I captured this morning:
There are some truly beautiful pieces as part of this exhibition. I particularly loved ‘Incandescent’ by Amy Cushing which sits over the font. The reflections in the font is always one of my favourite views of the Cathedral so to see the reflection of this art work there just adds to it for me. I also really loved the ‘Lauch’ piece that sits on the north end of the West Lawn by Rebecca Newnham – this piece is made up of lots of smaller pieces of glass and although it was overcast this morning, I can imagine this will look particularly stunning when the sun’s shining on it.
If you are making a visit to the Cathedral this summer then please share your photos with us via social media using #timeforwiltshire.
