About
Take a trip through time with our Living History Festival!
For our final living history event of the year, we'll be joined throughout the weekend of the 10th and 11th August by a whole host of re-enactment groups from the medieval era through to the Second World War.
Our groups will be setting up their encampments in our walled garden all weekend long, meaning you can walk through and immerse yourself in over 1,000 years of history, engaging with weapons, uniform and equipment from a multitude of historical eras. With plenty of demonstrations to watch and equipment to try on, you can experience all the sights, smells and sounds for yourself!
Whether you're medieval mad or a Napoleonic nut, we'll have something for you to see and do!
The event is completely free but donations are welcome! All donations will go towards our upcoming redevelopment project, 'Update 25'. This project will modernise the museum, transforming our galleries for the modern visitor.
No booking is necessary! Doors will be open from 10am-5pm, with last entry at 4:15pm.
