Salisbury Charter Fair takes over the Market Place; lighting up the city centre and bringing fun for all the family!
In 1227 - seven years after the building of Salisbury Cathedral began - King Henry III granted a Charter to the Bishop of Salisbury to hold a fair on the third Monday in October. That same Charter granted the city permission to hold a market every Tuesday. Both the Charter Market and Annual Fair are still held to this very day.
At Salisbury's Charter Fair, visitors can typically find the traditional fair favourites including dodgems, hook-a-duck, waltzer, ghost train and more. And of course not forgetting the candy floss and toffee apples!
