This exhibition selected from the submitted works by Salisbury Camera Club members will present their work in many photographic genres with the aim of showcasing photography as an important art form. Salisbury Camera Club was established in 1936 and has been providing an opportunity for members to share their enjoyment and passion for all forms of photography since then. Salisbury Camera Club is a member of Southern Counties Photographic Federation which itself is affiliated with Photographic Alliance of Great Britain. As part of this exhibition members of the public are invited to email Wiltshire Creative their photography which reflects upon and interprets the theme MY COMMUNITY. Selected photographs will be included in a running presentation on TVs in the Arts Centre main space alongside the exhibition.
Same Sea, Different Boat
Image: Sue Brown
Same Sea, Different Boat is a quilt with a difference instigated by the project founder artist Sue Brown (The Yard:ARTspace, Cheltenham). It is a socially documenting textile artwork with hand printed and stitched stories lovingly produced by over 350 artists from across the UK and further afield, each participant reacting to the COVID-19 pandemic. This positive and moving work is on its UK tour and will grow as it tours around the country. The mission of this artwork is to collect stories, share experiences to make people laugh or cry whilst reflecting on the unknown world we now live in. Sue Brown, the project founder says: "The quilt is a metaphor for how the effects of the quarantine have isolated us, yet we have all been part of it. Making the piece open ended also illustrates that Covid-19 will continue to shape our lives - everyone has their own isolation story, and we will help tell it".
