Col (Retd) Derek Armitage at the Army Flying Museum for a special talk to mark the 80th anniversary of Operation MARKET GARDEN to hear about the largest airborne Operation the world had seen at that time. Operation MARKET GARDEN was planned with the task for 1st Airbourne Division to seize and hold the bridge at Arnhem, involving almost 5,000 fighters, bombers, transport and more than 2,500 gliders dropping behind Nazi occupied Holland, in an unprecedented daylight assault.
