About
Explore beautiful Langley Burrell through the eyes of Victorian diarist Rev. Francis Kilvert for Heritage Open Days.
Discover Langley Burrell in the 1870s through Kilvert's diary entries with this self-guided trail. Part of Chippenham Museum's Victorian Summer, celebrating the area's connection to the Rev. Francis Kilvert, whose diaries are still read around the world.
Information boards will direct you along the way through the village, with an audio guide available to download from the museum's website https://bit.ly/KilvertsLangleyBurrell featuring diary excerpts read by Chair of the Kilvert Society Alan Brimson. As internet signal cannot be guaranteed, we recommend you download the audio guide before visiting.
Langley Burrell is a pleasant walk or cycle ride from the centre of Chippenham. Please be considerate of residents and other road users if parking in the village or nearby.
Chippenham Museum is also holding free Curator's Tours of exhibition Kilvert's World on Saturday 18 September as part of Heritage Open Days, booking essential. The exhibition is open at Chippenham Museum until Saturday 9 October with free entry.
