About
Spring is in the air and Fisherton Mill is delighted to be hosting Emily Toomer's fresh new collection of bold colourful landscape paintings in oil and acrylics with a little glamorous obsession for gold leaf. Perfect for breathing new life into your home or workplace. Emily describes the exhibition as "an acknowledgement of man's ability to stand in the rain and handle overwhelming tears and emotion in the hope for light following darkness".
Emily's achieves luminosity in her paintings with the use of either small or medium sized dots of pure colour or larger teardrop brushstrokes and wet effect drips to express the concept of downpours and changing light. In other paintings the focus is the precise and powerful visual effect of light when it strikes in that moment. Emily captures this with a smooth sleek style of painting using gold leaf to highlight the euphoric vibe.
In this collection of work Emily is drawn to the familiar local landscapes of the New Forest, Grovely Woods and various local gardens."For me there is a theatrical quality in landscape – whether it's quiet suspense or a colourful jazz style performance. It's perfect for conveying a visual sensation of human emotion".
Meet the Artist - Find out more about the thoughts and processes behind the work. Emily will be in the Main Gallery every Friday and Saturday of the exhibition from 11am - 2pm plus some Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
