About
Christmas at Mompesson is a family event designed to bring people together and create lasting memories. In 2023 Mompesson will be decorated for 'A Christmas Carol'. Enter Charles Dickens' world and discover the sights, sounds and smells of a Victorian Christmas. From Scrooge's bedroom upstairs to the Cratchits' house and Charles Dickens' study, this will be a fully immersive festive experience. Photo opportunities include dressing up, sitting at the Cratchits' table and a 12-foot Christmas tree.
Mompesson will be open from Thursday to Sunday over the Christmas period, with seasonal offerings in our tea-room and second-hand bookshop.
Throughout Christmas we'll have a free spotter trail with a children's outline of A Christmas Carol to keep little minds occupied. On some weekends we'll be running free storytelling sessions in the Studio bookshop.
On Monday 4 December we'll be hosting wreath making workshops with local florist Kate Chadsey. Tickets will include sustainable materials to make your perfect Christmas wreath, plenty of one-on-one time with Kate, refreshments and a behind-the-scenes tour of the house led by a member of staff. The site will be closed, so you'll have the whole house to yourselves! You can book the wreath workshops on the Mompesson House website.
