About
Following a two-year hiatus, around twelve gardens will be open in the beautiful three villages (Alton Barnes, Alton Priors and Honeystreet) nestling in the Vale of Pewsey, as part of our very special charity Fundraising Event.
Overlooked by a C19 White Horse, cut into the side of the Marlborough Downs, there will be plenty to see and do, from a manor garden with an impossibly long herbaceous border, inspirational working cut flower gardens, through to several of the most delightful cottage gardens and much in between.
For those visitors wishing to spend the day discovering the hidden gems and surprises along our garden trail, there will be plenty of refreshments on offer, ranging from teas and coffees with home-made cakes, through to ploughman's lunches and even a hands-on 'create your own pizza' experience all the family will enjoy. Treat yourself to delicious ice creams from a truly Wiltshire based enterprise, Lacock Dairies.
For those who enjoy cultural activities, look no further than our two flower filled churches: St Mary's Saxon Church in Alton Barnes and All Saints set in the meadows between the Altons. Follow historic cobblestone footpaths to enjoy the wonderful music recitals performed by Music for Awhile in All Saints Church during the afternoon (sponsored by the Cecil King Foundation) in aid of the Roof Appeal.
There will be several opportunities to buy home-grown plants, fresh flower bouquets, interesting gardenalia and lots more besides.
The owners all share a passion for gardening and a sense of community. All proceeds will go towards the cost of replacing the lead roof (sadly stolen in 2015) of All Saints Church, the Coronation Hall which supports community activities, as well as Prospect Hospice in memory of one of our much-loved residents who regularly welcomed visitors into her chocolate-box cottage garden and championed the Neolithic springs at the heart of our village.
Tickets are available in advance on the website below, or alternatively on the day from the Coronation Hall, Alton Barnes. Contactless payment available. These cost £7 per adult, with accompanied under-16s free. Well behaved dogs on leads allowed, at the discretion of individual garden owners.
