Accommodation Grading Information

VisitBritain and the AA grade establishments offering accommodation under a set of common quality standards agreed by the AA and the UK tourist authorities: VisitBritain, VisitScotland and Wales Tourist Board.

The aim is to make accommodation standards easy to understand and to give you confidence that establishments meet the standard you expect.

So you can book your accommodation with the assurance that it will always be of the quality required by the grading it displays.

The gradings are renewed annually so you can be confident that the quality will be maintained.

The Wiltshire Approved Scheme is operated on behalf of Visit Wiltshire by Quality in Tourism and shows that properties are fit for purpose.

The VisitWiltshire Accommodation Charter is not a quality rating but it shows that the businesses that have signed up to it are clean, safe and legal.

These descriptions apply to all types of accommodation. Use them as a general guide to what you can expect.

1 star: Simple, practical, no frills.
2 star: Well presented and well run.
3 star: Good level of quality and comfort.
4 star: Excellent standard throughout.
5 star: Exceptional with a degree of luxury.
