About
Fonthill House Charity Garden Open Day
Lord Margadale is kindly opening his garden on Sunday 9th June 2024 between 12pm - 5pm in aid of the Atlantic Salmon Trust, a charity researching, identifying & developing solutions for the catastrophic 70% decline in wild Atlantic salmon in the last 25 years alone, with the population in Great Britain now classed as endangered.
The garden, with all its different and interesting areas, is looking absolutely stunning. There's a no dig kitchen garden, mixed planting of shrubs and herbaceous perennials, bulbs and annuals, and the small selection of old and new sculptures including a beautiful water feature by William Pye. To the north of the house you'll find woodland walks with azaleas, magnolias, camellias, rhododendrons, sweet chestnuts and tall majestic oaks. (Unfortunately, there is restricted wheelchair access in some areas).
Lord Margadale and his team of gardeners will be there on the day to greet you and answer any questions. Members of the Atlantic Salmon Trust will have an information stand to give you a deeper understanding of what they're doing and of course no garden opening at Fonthill would be complete without the delicious food from Sol Café, the wine from Gardner & Beedle, the ice creams from Baboo Gelato ice cream van, and the multitude of fantastic stalls to look through.
Entrance is £10 per person if booked in advance via Eventbrite (www.fonthill.co.uk/gardens), £12 on the gate and free for children under 12. Well behaved dogs are welcome on leads.
