About
During a remarkable reign of over 70 years, Her Majesty the Queen and her family have touched the lives of countless people across the entire world. Now, Warminster Town Council is asking local people to provide their memories of the Royal Family. If you have any stories, pictures, memories or find the Royal Family inspirational, send them to: Queen's Platinum Jubilee Memory Walk, Warminster Civic Centre, Sambourne Road, Warminster, Wiltshire, BA12 8LB. The stories and pictures sent in will be used at a public week-long exhibition being held at Warminster Civic Centre from Monday 30th May.
There is no set format, you can write whatever memories or inspirations come to mind and include as many photos as possible!
Perhaps you or your friends and relatives have memories of the Coronation back in 1952, or your household was one of the many that bought a television just to watch that historic event? Perhaps your memories go further back to WWII or when Princess Elizabeth was a child? Perhaps you remember what you did for the Queen's Silver Jubilee in 1977, or the Golden Jubilee in 2002?
Perhaps you have met the Queen yourself or joined the crowds outside Buckingham Place hoping to catch a glimpse of Her Majesty? Perhaps you travelled to see her visit another town? What was your day like?
Has the Queen inspired you to get involved with your local community or a charity? Maybe you would just like to thank her for her dedication to the role of monarch? Whatever the story, send them in.
Talk to your relatives and write down some memories of the Royal Family. Warminster Town Council is asking the public to send in photos (copies only) or written memories on 1 side of A4 paper.
For children, Warminster Town Council is asking for answers to the questions: what would you do if you were a great British monarch for the day? What would you do and where would you go for the day? Who in the world would you want to meet and what would you discuss? What would you wear as the representative of Great Britain? The Queen has had over thirty corgis since her accession in 1952 – what pets would you have? Do not hold back, if you could be anything or anyone, let your imagination run free. Warminster Town Council look forward to reading all about your royal engagements.
Or, if you are more of an artist, Warminster Town Council is asking for portraits – if you were the monarch, what would you look like? Can you create your own portrait using any artistic medium? Could you create a portrait of Queen Elizabeth from any time during her reign?
All contributions will be showcased during the public exhibition, starting on Monday 30th May.
Please send your contribution to Warminster Town Council either by coming into Warminster Civic Centre, emailing admin@warminster-tc.gov.uk with the subject 'Queen's Platinum Jubilee' or sending them by post to: Queen's Platinum Jubilee Memory Walk, Warminster Civic Centre, Sambourne Road, Warminster, Wiltshire, BA12 8LB.
